State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science and Tokai University Information Technology Center of Japan Signed Cooperation Agreement

Mar 27,2019

On March 23, the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science of the Institute of Air and Space Information signed a cooperation agreement with the Information Technology Center of Tokai University, Japan. Both parties hope to carry out in-depth cooperation in atmospheric remote sensing, disaster monitoring, remote sensing of sea ice and snow, and satellite data product development in the future, and to promote mutual visits of personnel from both sides in the future.

Professor Kohei Cho, Director of Information Technology Center of Tokai University, Professor Takashi Y. Nakajima, Head of Cloud Products of JAXA Satellite Program, Researcher Shi Jiancheng, Director of State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science, and Researcher Liu Qinhuo, Executive Deputy Director, attended the signing ceremony. The signing ceremony was presided over by Researcher Husi Letu of the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science.

At the meeting, Shi Jiancheng firstly welcomed Prof. Kohei Cho and his delegation on behalf of the laboratory and briefly introduced the historical development, strategic positioning, disciplinary characteristics and research team of the laboratory. Prof. Kohei Cho gave a presentation on the historical history and strategic development of Tokai University in Japan.

Established in 1974, the Information Technology Center of Tokai University is a high-level comprehensive research center for environmental remote sensing in Japan with a comprehensive satellite receiving and processing system. The main research fields include atmospheric cloud remote sensing, land cover type product development, sea ice remote sensing, satellite image processing technology, information processing and satellite receiver development, and discovery and restoration technology of ancient cultural sites. The initiator of this cooperation agreement, Researcher Husletu, was engaged in research related to atmospheric cloud remote sensing at Tokai University. The Institute of Air and Space Information (formerly the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth Research) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Information Technology Center of Tokai University in Japan in December 2016 in the fields of education and research, and has achieved a series of results in atmospheric cloud remote sensing and satellite data product development.
