Dr. Dan Zhao is a Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on remote sensing of vegetation aboveground biomass. He proposed a novel “density × volume” framework for biomass monitoring, advanced key technologies for non-destructive field observation and large-scale spatiotemporal estimation of forest and grassland biomass, and developed national-scale remote sensing datasets of vegetation aboveground biomass from 2000 to 2020, supporting the sustainable development of forestry and grassland management in China.
