个人简历:
Iain Woodhouse is Professor of Applied Earth Observation at The University of Edinburgh and founder of REDD Horizon, a capacity development programme in Malawi.  He is a co-founder of Ecometrica, a land use and carbon accounting company, and Carbomap, a forest survey company specialising in multi-scale approaches involving radar and LiDAR. Professor Woodhouse’s research interests revolve around using lidar and radar to map forest structure. The structure and architecture of trees is an important indicator of biomass (and therefore carbon) and biodiversity. It is also important when trying to identify tropical cash crops and invasive species, especially when those species form part of an understory. In this seminar, Professor Woodhouse will describe some of his historical insights into remote sensing of forest structure, and will show some recent results mapping rhododendron in Scotland and cocoa in Ghana, using aircraft, drones and satellite.”
