International Workshop on Quantitative Remote Sensing Modeling for Heterogeneous Land Surface

Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to IWQRSMHLS 2017, the International Workshop on Quantitative Remote Sensing Modeling for Heterogeneous Land Surface.

The workshop will be held in Beijing in July 13, 2017 at A501, Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI). We are delighted to welcome you to attend this workshop specifically organized for quantitative remote sensing science community focusing on Heterogeneous Land Surface.

As you know, the modeling of radiative transfer and scattering mechanism, and the estimation of land surface parameters using remote sensing models have led to numerous achievements that have been successfully applied in many applications. However, the mechanisms associated with radiative transfer and scattering for heterogeneous land surfaces, as well as the scale extension mechanisms of remote sensing information, are still not well-understood. Over the years, the problems mentioned above have seriously hindered the application of quantitative remote sensing. In the context of dynamic analyses and modeling based on remote sensing information in relation to heterogeneous land surfaces, new challenges have arisen regarding basic theory and quantitative remote sensing methodology. The following set of questions are currently among those facing the remote sensing scientific community:

1.How to develop the radiative transfer model at full spectrum (VNIR, TIR, LiDAR and microwave) over mixed pixels or over topographic surfaces?

2.How to validate the accuracy of radiative transfer model over heterogeneous land surfaces?

3.How to apply the developed radiative transfer model over complex surfaces to improve the retrievals of vegetation biophysical parameters, e.g., leaf area index?

Based on the above-mentioned challenges and questions, the goal of this workshop is to facilitate communication among experts from a wide range of scientific disciplines. The workshop will focus on the following topics:

1.Radiative transfer modeling over mixed pixels or over topographic surfaces.

2.Radiative transfer modeling at full spectrum, including VNIR, TIR, LiDAR and microwave.

3.The validation and application of the developed radiative transfer model over complex surfaces.

So please do not hesitate, just prepare your paper abstract for IWQRSMHLS 2017 and plan your trip to Beijing. We are looking forward to meeting you all in Beijing!
